Financial Literacy Resources

Resource and post by Urban Alliance staff.

Navigating financial hardship can be difficult on its own, but doing it in a pandemic adds another layer of stress. For nearly a year, COVID-19 has had a significant financial impact on many households. A revised CT unemployment rate of 8.2% in November is notably higher than the national average of 6.7%. This means thousands faced unemployment, cut hours and pay, or lack of work during the quarantine. In response, Urban Alliance developed this handout highlighting programs in CT that build financial literacy skills and provide financial assistance.

Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. These skills help a person stretch benefits and improve their financial situation. The programs included on this handout help people build financial literacy skills and improve a person’s financial situation.

For general information about programs that help people, check out our Central CT Resource Guide.
