Location(s): Hartford

Hours: Wednesday evenings

Duration: Seasonal (during the school year)

Desired level of commitment: Once per month

Age requirement: 18

Tasks may include:

  • Serving a meal
  • Helping set up and take down tables and chairs
  • Cleaning up kitchen, serving, and dining areas
  • Interacting with children and their families

In order to volunteer, you should be:

  • A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
  • Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
  • Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
  • Friendly
  • Reliable
  • Patient
  • Spanish-speaking skills a plus

A background check will be required to be placed with this volunteer opportunity.

Available Volunteer Opportunities:

Assist Serving a Meal at After-School Program

Locations: 
Hartford 

Duration: Wednesday evenings (September-May), meals are served from 5:30-6:00pm. Weekly commitments are available and encouraged, as well as opportunities for volunteering once a month or less. 

Depending on your role and location where you are serving, your tasks may include:
• Lifting, carrying, setting up and taking down tables and chairs
• Setting up and cleaning up (may include sweeping or vacuuming) 
• Handing out/serving food
• Stocking food stations
• Interacting with children and families

Impact: By serving with this volunteer opportunity, you will help children and youth achieve academic success, develop character and be supported through healthy relationships.

In order to volunteer you should be:
• A registered Urban Alliance volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
• Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
• Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
• 18 years or older
• A "people person"/ good customer service
• Responsible, Organized, Dependable
• Patient and friendly
• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus
