The purpose of the Hartford Survey Project is to generate data that will assist the Urban Alliance Network and other community stakeholders in better understanding and responding to human service needs in Hartford, Connecticut.  
 
Our immediate objectives are:

• To better understand the service needs of Hartford residents, as well as, barriers to their receiving services.
   
• To better understand the interests of churches and organizations in serving the community through specific types of outreach ministries, and their level of interest in collaborating with others around a common ministry or service initiative.  
   
• To get a pulse of existing outreach and service ministries already taking place through churches and Christian faith-based organizations in the Hartford area.

This project consists of two smaller research studies, 1) collecting survey data from Hartford residents and 2) collecting survey data from church and ministry leaders in the Greater Hartford Christian community.  Both parts one and two collect information about twelve social service areas: substance abuse recovery, basic needs/food, homelessness/housing, counseling/emotional support, youth development, health and wellness, education, financial support, senior services, prison/re-entry services, job training/employment assistance, and pregnancy/parenting support.  To view the individual surveys, click here.  
 
The information collected through this project was analyzed and shared at a roundtable event on April 28th, 2011. There it was used to stimulate dialogue among pastors, ministry leaders, and other community stakeholders as to how the Christian community in Greater Hartford can work together to provide needed services to Hartford residents.
