Hartford City Mission

Hartford City Mission's (HCM) mission is to be "partnering with churches, the body of Christ, to TRANSFORM our community in North Hartford through SHARING the Good News and his Kingdom, DEVELOPING disciples who are fully devoted followers of Christ and CONNECTING Christians from a variety of geographic, economic or racial backgrounds.

Churches throughout the Greater Hartford region unite to reconcile relationships with God, self and community, affirming the inherent value of each person. Young men and women are empowered to become strong transformational leaders, choosing to stay in our community and take an active role in creating social, economic and spiritual renewal. People throughout the region recognize the strength of North Hartford and are drawn to connect with God's work, actively joining the process to build a strong vibrant community. In turn, our city becomes a place known for God's kingdom attributes of goodness, justice, service, joy and peace.

Noah After School
The purpose of Noah After School (NAS) is to help Hartford grade school children grow spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and physically in partnership with their home and school community. Noah After School supports children in their homework and reading skills, and helps children learn how much Jesus loves them. After school volunteers assist the children with homework and enrichment activities, providing encouragement and academic support. Other aspects of Noah After School are Bible lessons, games, crafts, dance, art, music and snacks.  There are currently three NAS locations operating in the North End this school year.

Camp Noah
Camp Noah is a fun, Christ-centered half day camp for kids in the North End of Hartford. Camp Noah meets for seven weeks during the summer. The camp is for kids who have completed first grade through fifth grade. Kids who come to Camp Noah play games, make crafts, sing songs, learn about the Bible, go on field trips, go swimming and much more. And the best part is that its free!

Nehemiah After School
Nehemiah After School, formerly known as Wyld Life, is an after school ministry serving grades 6-8. Plans for the 2016-2017 school year are to move the Friday afternoon program to a daily offering. The youth receive an hour of academic support and goal setting with a mentor and leadership development training, followed by 1 hour of "program time". During program time, the students play lively games, watch and/or participate in skits and object lessons before the
20-30 minute life application Bible lesson.

YoungLife and Campaigners
Hartford YoungLife (grades 9-12) is a weekly Tuesday night outreach ministry that introduces teens to Christ and is "a party with a purpose". A simple message of God's love is shared each week, along with open gym time (basketball and organized games) and followed by pizza.

Campaigners is a ministry for Young Life youth who desire to go deeper with their relationship with Christ, through study, service and leadership.  The group meets weekly on Saturday morning for breakfast and Bible Study at HCM.

Street Leaders
The Street Leaders ministry is an eight week summer employment program for Young Life attendees ages 16 and up working with the Camp Noah children, as junior counselors. The youth learn how to build healthy relationships with children, set up camp, lead activities like crafts, games and songs, keep the kids on task, offer healthy correction and participate in skits.

HCM Summer College Internship
Each summer, HCM hires a team of interns to support the work alongside the North Hartford community. Days are spent preparing for Camp Noah, assisting in running camp, visiting families, volunteering with HCM's Young Life ministry, participating in Bible Study, discussions on Christian community development and bi- weekly mentor meetings with local community members who are actively partnering in North Hartford and throughout the city.
